Man, 71, killed in Dauphin County crash: state police

Oct. 17--A Harrisburg man was killed Friday afternoon when he swerved off a Middle Paxton Township roadway and hit a utility pole, Pennsylvania State Police said.

John J. Gallagher, 71, was driving on the 1000 block of Fishing Creek Valley Road around 3:30 p.m. when the crash occurred, state police said.

Hitting the utility pole caused “disabling damage” and killed Gallagher, state police said.

Susquehanna and Dauphin fire departments assisted at the scene.
